Introducing Pay As You Go - pay per booking, not per month

No subscription, no client-facing fee - just a small per-booking charge billed once a month. Here's how Rexabook's Pay As You Go plan works, and who it's for.

We’ve written before about why Rexabook is free - a client-paid booking fee covers the one real cost of running a booking system, the confirmation and reminder texts. That works well if you take payment online. But plenty of traders don’t want to: cash in hand, or their own card machine, is just how they’ve always done it, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Free doesn’t quite fit that trader, because there’s no online payment to attach a client-paid fee to. So we built Pay As You Go - same idea, same honesty about where the cost goes, just billed to you instead of your client.

How it works

Pay As You Go has no monthly subscription. Instead, every booking accrues a small charge - 55¢, the same figure the Free plan’s client-paid fee uses - and once a month, we invoice you for whatever accrued. No card is charged mid-month, no surprise deductions: one bill, once a month, for exactly what you booked.

To go live, you add a card on file - not to charge per booking, but so there’s something to invoice against at the end of the month. That’s the only setup step. Everything else - services, staff, booking page, reminders, no-show protection - works exactly like every other plan, because every plan gets the complete platform. Your whole team is included too, free and uncapped, same as the Free plan.

Who it’s for

If you already take payment in person and have no interest in changing that, Pay As You Go removes the two things that would otherwise stand in your way: a monthly bill, and a fee your client sees at checkout. You’re not paying for a feature you don’t use, and your client never sees a charge for something you’ve already collected from them directly.

It sits alongside Free, Starter and Pro as a fourth way to cover the same underlying cost - the reminder texts that stop no-shows. Free asks your client to cover it online. Pay As You Go and Starter/Pro ask you to, either per booking or with a flat monthly allowance. None of them lock features behind a higher tier.

The one thing it doesn’t do

We’d rather tell you upfront: Pay As You Go doesn’t take deposits or payment in full online. That’s not an oversight - the whole point of the plan is that you handle the money yourself, so there’s no card processing switched on for it to do that with. If you want to take deposits online while still avoiding a subscription, Free is the plan for that (your client’s booking fee and any deposit both go through Rexabook Payments together). If you want deposits and a fixed monthly cost, that’s Starter or Pro.

Switching to it

If you’re already on Rexabook, switching to Pay As You Go takes one card added and one click - it applies immediately, no waiting for a billing cycle to turn over. If you’re starting fresh, it’s one of the options at setup.
